VERY GLAD I GOT THIS SET COMPARED TO OTHERS. GREAT FINISH. EVEN CAME IN REUSABLE PLASTIC CASE.This was perfect for me as a beginner, and now I'm more serious into lifting weights. These are perfect and really help with building that muscle. My bf really loves this and especially the case it comes in. This set works with our roommates weights so we add on with those.Very impressed at the quality of the product. All pieces came in good shape and the case is very sturdy. The bars and weights are manufactured well and without flaw.Great purchase.Weights are good quality and the ability to box them up when needing to transport them is a definite plus. Can even fit weights on weight bar for my bench it also came in a nice storage case so you’re able to keep it out the way when you aren’t using it.Very good for home workout. Easy to assemble but the screws keep lossing up.Arrived timely. Case opened and contents came out in transit. Packed all but 17 lbs of weights in case to carry upstairs and it opened, luckily the contents did not fall on my foot. Toss the case, it is not safe, keep the nice weight set.If you put all the plates on a single dumbbell it weights about 35lbs as seen in the picture which is “UsElEsS fOr AnYoNe WiTh ReMoTe MuScLe StReNgTh”.But it’s not that far off from 40lbs and you could simply find some more weights and add them on.Each side of the dumbbell holds 4 plates.Overall, it’s a pretty good deal for the price, considering other packages like this are $200+ and a 5lb weight is like $15+.One spin lock collar has become unusable and will not tighten at all. In fact , it just drops down the shaft of the bar, as if the thread has worn away. Cannot figure it out. Crazy. I've only had them one week, and used them four times! Dangerous & unacceptable. If that spin-lock had fallen off and the bar was over my head it might have cracked my skull. ARE YOU READING THIS,MARCY/AMAZON?!Other than than they're fine (haha), but now one bar-set is unusable.I hope the seller will replace this collar, as it's too much hassle and expense to do a return and pay for shipping on this, so I've had to buy a set of spin-locks to be going on with. It's actually cheaper than sending this dangerous weapon back. So, DO NOT BUY, unless you want to risk breaking your head or bones.Go ahead and look around at the cost of cast iron weights including shipping - go ahead, I'll wait. Did you notice that you won't come anywhere near this pricepoint on just the plates alone? This is a good deal. The plates are solid. The handles and spinners are OK - lot's of places sell the exact same quality at a higher price. When you get them, just go over the corners and angles with a light sandpaper to brush off any burrs that may have been missed at the factory - I didn't have any on my set, but in general with this type of nickel plated material, it is a good idea. You WILL have some of the nickel flake off in use. Don't panic - unless you have a nickel allergy, you can just wash your hands after your workout and sweep any debris off your mat. These dumbbells are perfect for beginners and if you REALLY need more weight then purchase another set.The plates, collars, and bars are solid good quality and will last a very long time.Personally I use dumbbells for specific muscle groups related to archery and only need around 10ths per side. That doesn’t sound like much, but after 7 different exercises of 2x 10 reps each it gets the job done.Good set. Bought this for my 13-year-old son as he wanted a beginner set. I think this will last him many years and will be able to take it to university with him.
